Entrance to the best kept secret of the Bushveld! |
Inevitably people might speculate about the developer's rationale to use the name "Renaissance" for his development company. What relationship is there between South African retirement villages and the cultural movement of the same name that started in the late Middle Ages in
In 2001 former Chairman of the Management Committee, Nato Britz, speculated as follows about the name, "If we consider the history of the word "Renaissance", then I prefer revival or renewal. After all, that is what is happening at Warmbad Renaissance; residents have relinquished the first phase of their life and started a second, or new, phase of life."
It appears that the construction of Warmbad Renaissance commenced in 1989/1990 when the rumble of heavy construction equipment shattered the Bushveld tranquillity.
The first residents were Ampie and Isabel Hattingh. They moved in on 1 April 1992.
